WelMac will be running a tutorial workshop during October at a date yet to be decided. The workshop will take the same format as previous workshops and will run from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be a half hour lunch break, and a light lunch is provided. The fee to attend is $30 per member. Non-members are welcome to attend also, but there is an additional $30 yearly corporate, family or individual membership fee for a total cost of $60 for non-members.
You can jump straight to the registration form, or read the information below:
Topics
We are offering a selection of four topic streams. These are subject to sufficient registrations.
- Macintosh Basics (anything you need help with)
- Productivity (MS Office)
- Graphics (Photoshop, iPhoto, Freehand, Fireworks etc)
- Video (iMovie, Final Cut Pro, iPod etc)
If there are other topics you would
like to see covered in future workshops, please let us know by using the
comments on the registration form to
request another topic.
Advance registration is essential,
and numbers are limited.
The form allows you to register for
several topics/workshops, but you will only be
able to attend one, so we will contact
you to confirm your preference once we know which ones we will be running.
Rooms
We will be using three rooms: the Large Gallery, Small Gallery and Turnbull Room, all of which are on the first floor. Allocation of topics to rooms will be determined according to the number of registrations.
BYO Computer
We will be supplying a limited number of computers for the workshop. Attendees can also bring their own laptop or "portable"
computers, but please don’t bring large
desktop computers. If you have a special program or custom setup you need help with, the best solution is to bring your computer.
Depending on number of attendees
and available computers and tutors, we
intend to structure the “Basics” workshop as a hands-on tutorial session with
two attendees and one tutor per computer. The other workshops will be more
in the form of a seminar with a higher ratio of attendees to computers.
More workshops...
These workshops are somewhat of
an experiment to gauge interest and
to see how well we can run them given
the facilities available at Turnbull House.
We are hoping that the reduced fee
compared to previous years will make
it a more attractive prospect to many
members. If there is sufficient demand
we will continue to hold workshops
throughout the year.
Parking
If you intend to travel to the workshop by car, note that parking may be an issue. Street parking is free on Saturdays, but there is a two hour time limit in most areas. This may mean having to move your car at the lunch break. The Clifton Terrace car park is reasonably close, and is free on weekends.
